Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 680 grams Green beans
  • 1/4 Large red onion
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Urad dal This is optional. If you don't have it in your pantry, don't worry about it!
  • 2 cups water
  • 1.5 tbsp Olive oil or vegetable oil

Method

  1. Cut the beans into half inch pieces and dice the
    onions.
  2. In a large pan, heat the oil.
  3. When the oil is hot, bring the pan to medium-high heat and add the urad dal.
  4. It will take about 30 seconds for the urad dal to brown. After that, add the diced onions.
  5. Sauté the onions until they are translucent.
  6. Then add the green beans.
  7. Immediately after, add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt and stir well to ensure the beans are coated with the spices.
  8. Let it fry for 2-3 minutes and then add 2 cups water
  9. Close the pan with a lid and let it cook together for about 10-15 minutes until the beans are a little soft. Stir occasionally to ensure the beans don't stick to the bottom. If the beans don't feel soft enough, you can add more water.
  10. Open the lid and let the remaining water cook off. Your beans are ready!
